'UHF' Live

‘UHF’ Reunion

My wife and I have been UHF diehards from childhood, so when we got news a while back that Weird Al and the gang were going to do a one-night-only live screening of the movie at LA’s Greek Theatre (complete with a live orchestra/rock band and cast/crew reunion Q&A), we knew we obviously had to be there.

Despite it raining in Los Angeles on Halloween (boo), the show went on, and it was glorious. Here’s a peek at some of the action…

Pre-Show Prep

Before hopping in the car with our good friends, we did a quick photo shoot to document our Big Edna and Joe Earley costumes:

Meeting Fellow Maniacs and Hearing Stories

Not only did we find that we were in good (and in my case, bloodier) company, we got to hear all sorts of great “making of” tales from the cast and crew, which included Weird Al obvs, director Jay Levey, composer John Du Prez, Victoria Jackson, David Bowe, Gedde Watanabe, Fran Drescher, Emo Philips (who wore “our” shared outfit again!) and Lisa R. Stefanic (Phyllis Weaver herself).

Strategic Al Deployments

In addition to having a live orchestra/rock band combo (conducted by the composer) play along with the movie, Al popped out to sing as needed, including on Money for Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies. Talk about checking off a bucket list item. ❤️

‘Wheel of Fish’ Live!

While I kept wondering if they’d roll the dice and bring Michael Richards out (they did not), they ended in arguably the most epic way they could have, by reenacting “Wheel of Fish” live with the original actors. No notes.

What a moment in time! Aside from the rain, 10/10, would Al again.
