Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty (TV): Nobody’s more surprised than I am that I went on (and really enjoyed) a deep Lakers history binge this month, led by this awesome series…

Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers (TV): …continuing with this riveting documentary…

Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals (Movie): …and on to this, I guess I’m a jock now?

Prey (Movie): Absolutely fabulous

Fed Up (Podcast): Fiber drama!

House of The Dragon (TV): Off to a solid start

Light & Magic (TV): What flat-out mindblowing careers

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (TV): She’s fantastic

American Scandal: Edward Snowden (Podcast): I love this show’s general vibe, and obviously this season’s subject is fascinating

Pleasure (Movie): After some pretty bleak stuff, the ending was a nice touch

Running with the Devil: The Wild World of John McAfee (Movie): Bummed that they didn’t cover his “I’ll eat my own dick” challenge, but otherwise solid

The Sandman (TV): Still pretty early with this, but along for the ride

One Year: 1986 (Podcast): Have a feeling this season’s gonna hit me right in the memories

Nathan For You (TV): I’d somehow never watched this incredible show after all these years, and was spurred on by The Rehearsal

Trainwreck: Woodstock ’99 (TV): What a hellscape

Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes (Movie): That roof clearing duty 💀

Dreaming Walls: Inside The Chelsea Hotel (Movie): What a vibe

D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! (TV): I was only loosely familiar with his story, and enjoyed learning all the details

The Most Hated Man on The Internet (TV): What a piece of work

Media Diary (July 2022)

Some stuff I’ve experienced lately (and not necessarily only new releases):

Nope (Movie): Loved it, and I think I’ve finally wrapped my head around the shoe in the sitcom flashback scene

Black Bird (TV): Really good, and both leads are fantastic

Elvis (Movie): Reviews were pretty polarized, but I thoroughly enjoyed it…

Elvis Presley: The Searcher (Movie): …which of course sent me down an Elvis rabbit hole

The Bear (TV): Thank you, chefs

Candy (TV): Loved the whole vibe, looking forward to the other one now

Westworld (TV): This new season is so much better than last season

Crimes of The Future (Movie): Fascinating and creepy

Mind Over Murder (TV): A really interesting story, though I still can’t get over the fact that they pronounce it “BeATrice”

The Rehearsal (TV): Tremendous

Thor: Love and Thunder (Movie): Enjoyed it, but (like my wife) I’m kinda up for a bit of a Marvel break

The Anarchists (TV): Clown show

What We Do In The Shadows (TV): As always, a delight

Downton Abbey: A New Era (Movie): Good to see the gang back together, but nothing mindblowing

Only Murders In The Building (TV): It continues to be goofy and enjoyable

Mormon No More (TV): An interesting look at families adjusting to big life changes

The Boys (TV): This season’s seafood scene with The Deep was daaaaaark

Top Gun: Maverick (Movie): Sure he’s been to Gold Base and likely seen some stuff, but the man can make an action movie

Worldwide: The Unchosen Church (Podcast): Right up my alley

Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey (TV): As is this, of course

The Worst Person in The World (Movie): Enjoyed it a great deal, and it was cool to get a taste of Oslo

Slow Burn: Roe v. Wade (Podcast): Obviously couldn’t be more timely

The Janes (Movie): Ditto here

For All Mankind (TV): Glad it’s back, what a great show

Our Father (Movie): Horrifying behavior

Sounds Like a Cult (Podcast): Love the variety of topics and their overall vibe

Physical (TV): Continues to be a fun (and short!) little escape each week

A Sexplanation (Movie): We’ve still got so far to go as a society

Ms. Marvel (TV): Initially felt a little too cute for its own good, but I’ve warmed up since, and the lead actress is super charming

Morbius (Movie): That’s right, I watched it and lived to tell the tale #itsmorbintime

White Hot: The Rise & Fall of Abercrombie & Fitch (Movie): Yikes all around
