Media Diary (August 2021)

Some stuff I’ve experienced lately (and not necessarily only new releases):

The White Lotus (TV): One of my favorites so far this year

The Suicide Squad (Movie): Just what I wanted it to be

Beautiful Outlaw: Experiencing the Playful, Disruptive, Extravagant Personality of Jesus (Book): A great look at breaking free from the “religious”

The Chair (TV): Super enjoyable

Jungle Cruise (Movie): An average movie once again elevated by The Rock

Dr. Death (TV): Was a big fan of the podcast, and thought the show was solid

Dr. Death: The Undoctored Story (TV): For those that want to continue down the rabbithole

Val (Movie): Quite a career, and I was surprised how open he was about losing his voice

Modern Love (TV): Really liking this new season

Pray Away (Movie): A good look at a shameful practice

Nine Perfect Strangers (TV): It’s been savaged by critics, but I’ve found it pretty watchable

How To Become a Tyrant (TV): Enjoyed the tone and variety of rogues selected

Woodstock 99: Peace Love and Rage (Movie): What a fiasco

What If…? (TV): Generally pretty good, but I wish they’d get crazier

Mr. Corman (TV): An interesting vibe that I’m generally enjoying

Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes (Movie): Wasn’t familiar with this chilling story before

Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes (TV): Just started this, but I’m starting to think that Weinstein might not be such a great guy

The Movies That Made Us (TV): I love every batch of these

Myth & Mogul: John DeLorean (TV): Quite a ride
