Media Diary (October 2024)

Here’s some stuff I’ve experienced lately (and not necessarily only new releases). In addition, our free Stream Team community has a lot more daily action happening on the recommendations front too. 💪

The Remarkable Life of Ibelin (Movie): Heartbreaking, but ultimately an amazing story about the many different types of communities in our lives

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (TV): Amazing performances all around

The Menendez Brothers (Movie): Obviously had to follow the series with the doc

All Fours (Book): Clever, riveting and against all odds, largely set in Monrovia (!)

Rivals (TV): Still early with this, but loving the over-the-top energy and ’80s vibes

The Apprentice (Movie): Both lead performances were great, if you’re into horror stories

Joker: Folie à Deux (Movie): Loved the idea of it being a musical, didn’t love the execution

Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos (Movie): A fascinating origin story

Megalopolis (Movie): You can’t argue that he didn’t swing for the fences, I’ll give him that

Mr. McMahon (TV): Way more gripping than it had any right to be

Salem’s Lot (Movie): Enjoyed this overall, then had to compare it with the OG

Salem’s Lot (TV): Think I liked this version better overall

A Return To Salem’s Lot (Movie): Let’s never mention this again

It’s Florida, Man (TV): Fun and short

I Am Not a Monster: The Lois Riess Murders (TV): What a wild story

What We Do in The Shadows (TV): So glad they’re back for one last round

This is The Zodiac Speaking (TV): I mean, that guy was obviously him, no?

Disclaimer (TV): Took a few weeks off between the first and second episode, so still getting my bearings, but definitely along for the ride

The Franchise (TV): Silly and (again, importantly) short

Shrinking (TV): I never see this as essential viewing, but always enjoy myself when I get around to it

Breath of Fire (TV): Obviously not gonna miss a problematic yoga show
